Trailer: G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Little has been revealed about the actual plot. What we can ascertain from the trailer is that the G.I. Joe's will be framed for something, which puts them up against Cobra, including Zartan who was last seen disguised as the President of the United States at the end of the last film. This will lead to the president ordering their deaths, leaving very few remaining, including Roadblock, Snake Eyes and Bruce Willis.

While I did find G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra to be a not bad film, it did have a lot of flaws. It looks like the second film will be making up for a number of those flaws, as pretty much only Snake Eyes seems to survive the attack on the Joes, leaving the rest of the badly accented, bland Joes dead. Replacing the dead Joes is Dwayne Johnson, as Roadblock, and Bruce Willis himself. Also, while the first film suffered with it's comedic attempts, I pretty much counted only one comedic attempt in this trailer, and that was at the end, which leads me to believe this flaw will not be around, or at least not around as much.

Also, the fighting scenes do look much improved, as evidenced by the trailers highlight as Snake Eyes and a partner of his have a cliff-side sword battle with Cobra ninjas. Powered by a script penned by the writers of Zombieland, it does look like G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be a very needed improvement upon the first film, and while I won't be pre-ordering tickets, my anticipation levels have gone from "Not minding the film's existence" to "Wait until reviews come out and see if it's worth a trip to the cinema".

G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be released on June 29th 2012
